%X The meaning and the aims of Quality Controls (QC) in Diagnostic Radiology are discussed, underlining the basic philosophy of Quality and the difference between the concept of Quality Controls and Quality Assurance. A brief overview of QC in Computed Tomography is given describing the main advantages. The methods are similar in Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) but far more complex. Therefore only the method for the measurement of Signal-to-Noise ratio (SNR) is examined in detail while the other image quality parameters are just mentioned. As an example of a right method for the evaluation of image quality in MRI, a new technique for the measurement of SNR based on a spatial frequencies domain analysis is proposed. Finally some guidelines for the personnel involved in QC activity are provided.
